Job Description Summary The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and ensures that appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected. The Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures and schedules them according to established guidelines, maintaining accuracy in the upcoming surgical schedule, speaking directly with physician offices, and fostering close relationships with all departments involved. Entity / Organization Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type Employee (Regular) Compensation and Hours Hourly, 40 hours per week, Health-20 pay grade. Minimum Training and Education Education: High School Degree or Equivalent. Work Experience: 3 years. Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of OR Scheduling. Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes preferred. Typing speed of 35 wpm and computer experience required. Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climb stairs, work indoors/outside, work from elevated areas, work in confined/cramped spaces, kneeling positions, bend at waist, twist at waist, squat, pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reach overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, use both legs, lower extremities for balance and coordination, reach in all directions, lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted, lift lower objects 50 lbs from floor, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs, exert up to 50 lbs of force, maintain vision, hearing, deal with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime as required, work in latex safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions.
