Senior Python Backend Developer (Medellín)

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Backend Developer to design, build, and optimize backend services in an AWS environment. The role focuses on data‑driven APIs, cloud‑native architectures, and real‑time data processing, working closely with data teams to deliver scalable and high‑quality solutions. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python in AWS environments.
- Build and optimize data extraction and processing components in collaboration with data teams.
- Develop streaming data processing solutions and integrate them with existing systems.
- Build and maintain real‑time data pipelines ensuring efficient data flow.
- Integrate backend services with AWS data platforms (Redshift, S3, RDS/Aurora).
- Implement cloud‑native observability and monitoring best practices.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to microservices design.
- Collaborate with data engineers, product teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and best practices.

Qualifications
- Mid to Senior level experience as a Backend Developer.
- Proven experience building backend services in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience working with AWS services.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests.
- Strong focus on code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Fluent English (written and verbal).
- Familiarity with data‑centric backend systems (databases, data warehouses, APIs).
- Experience building and integrating data pipelines and streaming solutions.

Hands‑on experience with
- Amazon Redshift
- Amazon S3
- Amazon RDS / Aurora

Observability & Best Practices
- Amazon CloudWatch (metrics, logs, alarms)
- AWS X‑Ray (distributed tracing)

Nice to Have
- Experience with Spark / PySpark.
- Knowledge of API authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT).
- Experience with distributed systems.
